The Tahoe Douglas Elks Lodge will be having two of its most popular events later this week – Taco Night and our Sunday morning breakfast. Located at 1227 Kimmerling Road at Gardnerville come on by to not only eat but know profits from these two events are all donated to local charities. Lodge members also donate their time at no expense to visitors and membership.
Taco Night is this Thursday from 5 pm to 6:30 pm but come early to grab the best seating. Dinner includes homemade rice, beans, fresh guacamole, as well as chips and desert. A complete taco dinner for only $4 with $2 for each additional taco. Beverages are available at an additional cost.
Sunday morning breakfast this week begins at 8:30 am and last till 10 am. Sponsored only once a month this is one of the areas best known food events. Maxx Cabello Jr. will visit us after July 4th celebrations at Minden Park. Maxx started at the age of 15 playing a guitar. That was a life time ago. Maxx has been fortunate enough to open for greats such as Earth, Wind, and Fire, John Lee Hooker, Ozomatli, Dickey Betts of the Allman Brothers, Otis Rush, Roy Rogers, Guitar Shorty, W.C. Clarke, Tierra, Tommy Castro, Chris Cain, Gary Hoey, The Roomful of Blues, Duke Robillard, Booker T. & the MG’s, Shemika Copeland, Morris Day & The Time, and many more. More recently he was asked to open for the popular alternative group Third Eye Blind at Lake Tahoes outdoor concert series. Cabello blew the crowd away, and received a standing ovation for his captivating performance. Showtime is at 6 pm so don’t be late.
No lawn space can be reserved/sectioned off until 7am the day of the concert.
Please do not lay blankets on the lawn until after 5pm the day of the concert. Blankets left out for the day can damage the grass and will be removed.
For the benefit of all visitors to Minden Park who wish to enjoy the concert series, reserved/sectioned off spaces must be no larger than 10’ x 10’.
If tape is used to reserve a section, the tape must be removed for safety and visibility reasons prior to the start of the concert.
Children must be supervised at all times. Playing and climbing on the planters and ramp to the restroom are prohibited. Throwing of hard balls is prohibited for safety reasons but Nerf balls will be allowed, as long as they are being used safely.
We love dogs, however for their safety and the safety of all concert goers, please leave them at home.
In order to allow everyone to enjoy the concerts the event will be closing 5th street to allow motor homes parking and concessions. RV parking will be allowed in a designated area only starting at 9am the day of the concerts and an RV Pass is required. Please call the recreation department prior to the concerts to receive a pass at (775) 782-5500 ext. 1. RV parking at other locations around the park obscures the line of sight for Minden homeowners around the park.
